Why Cedarvault

Calm, considered, and built to last

We take the kind of care with your documents that a well-made piece of furniture takes with time.

Your records stay yours

No document is filed or submitted on your behalf. No credential is collected. Every decision stays with the household.

Side-by-side working

Sessions are collaborative — we work alongside you, not on your behalf. The system we build reflects how your household actually works.

Something tangible to keep

Every service produces a printed index or booklet — a physical reference you can return to without a screen or an account.

No rush, no pressure

We work at a pace that suits the household. There is no obligation to move faster than feels comfortable.

Home or studio — your choice

Sessions can take place at the household's home or at our Jalan Padungan studio, depending on what works best for you.

Paper and digital, together

Most households hold records in both forms. We work with both in the same project so nothing is left in an unconnected pile.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

What kind of households does Cedarvault typically work with?
We work with households at any stage — those who have never organised their records before, those who tried and found it difficult to maintain, and those who have a system but want a second set of eyes on it. There is no requirement to have anything prepared before we arrive.
Do you file, submit, or act on any documents on our behalf?
No. Our work is entirely organisational. We help you build the system and the index. We do not submit any form, communicate with any agency or institution, or take any action outside the session on your behalf. The household member makes every decision.
Where do sessions take place?
For the Paper and Digital Catalog Project and the Annual Records Care Subscription, sessions can be held at your home or at our studio at Lot 15, Jalan Padungan, Kuching — whichever suits the household. The Digital Records Organizing Session is typically held at our studio for a focused half-day, though home visits can be arranged.
How long does a session take?
The Digital Records Organizing Session is a single half-day, typically three to four hours. Each session in the Paper and Digital Catalog Project runs approximately the same length, with four sessions spread over several weeks at a pace you choose. Quarterly visits in the Annual Subscription are generally one to two hours each.
Are the archival materials included in the price?
For the Paper and Digital Catalog Project, archival folders, labels, and the printed index booklet are included in the project fee. The Digital Records Organizing Session includes a printed index template. For the Annual Subscription, materials used during quarterly visits are included.
Which service is right for us?
If your household mainly holds digital records and wants a clear starting point, the Digital Records Organizing Session is a good first step. If you have a mix of paper and digital documents and want a thorough combined catalog, the four-session project covers both. If you have already built a system but want help keeping it current across the year, the Annual Subscription is designed for that.
How do we keep our information private during the session?
The household member controls access to documents at all times during the session. We do not take copies of documents, we do not photograph sensitive materials, and we do not collect login credentials or account details. Our work is limited to helping you build and label the structure — what goes inside it is entirely at your discretion.
